Priority Engine's exporting options give you complete control over the format and timing of your exports. Exports can be delivered on-demand or automatically each week as Excel spreadsheets via email or directly into MAP or CRM.
Before getting started with exporting, you should discuss the optimal strategy for exporting Priority Engine data into your systems with your team and your TechTarget Customer Success Manager. Once you are ready to start exporting, refer to this page for guidance on each section of the Manage Exports page.
Please Note: Only Administrators are authorized to manage exports. Exports start each week on Sunday at 12 am EST.

Navigating the Manage Exports Page
The main Manage Exports page provides a status overview for every Account List you've created. Use this view to quickly see attribution, format, number of recipients, and the order in which Account Lists will export. You can also use this page to export a list on-demand and to activate or deactivate automatic weekly exports. Key features of the main exporting page are:
Setting Priority Order - Account Lists are exported in the order they are set, making the ordering of your account lists critical to your exporting strategy. If you are deduping, Priority Engine will not export any contacts that were contained in a previously exported list. Therefore, the Account Lists for which you would like to receive the most contacts should always be ordered highest in your hierarchy. Keep in mind that choosing to dedupe will limit your ability to see when existing prospects and accounts become active and export new research activity each week.
By clicking on Set Priority Order, you can easily drag and drop Account Lists in the order you would like them exported.
- For example, if prospect John Doe appears on both Account List #1 and Account List #2 you will receive him only once in your export file – as a prospect from Account List #1. This is because Account List #1 ranks first.
- This scenario works best if you need to mitigate data duplication in your marketing automation platforms.
Tips for setting the priority order of your exports
- Order your smallest, most targeted Account List highest. This will reserve the first cut of your audience for the accounts that are hardest to find.
- Ranking a large list above a smaller more targeted list could steal away the more targeted accounts meant for the smaller list
- It's important to rank based on audience size and not by what Account List is perceived as “most important”
Attribution Code - An attribution code ensures you are able to track exported data once it is pulled out of Priority Engine. In most cases, we recommend using an attribution format that references TechTarget or Priority Engine and the specific type of list being exported. For example:
Export Format - There are two types of export formats, standard and integrated.
- Standard Email - Sent as an Excel spreadsheet via email to as many recipients as you choose.
- Integrated - Your integrated MAP or CRM will be updated during the automatic weekly Priority Engine export.
Weekly Export - Use this toggle to quickly select whether or not an Account List will be exported during the automated weekly Priority Engine export. Saved weekly export settings will not be lost when this toggle is deactivated.
Export Now - Select this option to immediately export all Account Lists you have selected via their checkbox. Weekly export settings are not applied to on-demand exports; you will be prompted to choose your settings for each manual export. Doing so will not affect an Account List's saved weekly export settings.
Export prospects multiple times if applicable - Checking this box will disable deduping for all Account Lists and enable contacts to be included in any list they appear on.
- For example, if prospect John Doe appears on Account List #1 and Account List #2 you will receive him twice in your export file, once for each account list he is aligned with
- This scenario is ideal if your nurture strategy is designed to engage prospects with multiple, distinct nurture tracks
- This scenario is also ideal for deploying prospects to your sales team, ensuring that prospects always make it to your reps without the risk of getting snatched up by a marketing list and removed from circulation
Accessing Weekly or On-Demand Export Settings
Weekly export settings and on-demand export settings both utilize the same export setting window. You can access this window for Weekly or on-demand exports in the following ways:
Access weekly export settings by:
- Clicking on the Account List name
- Activating the Weekly Export toggle
Please Note: Weekly export settings saved for an Account List will be saved for all future automatic exporting with that list.
Access on-demand export settings by:
- Checking the check-box next to any Account List name, then click on Export Now. You may select as many Account Lists as you want to export on-demand.
Please Note: Your on-demand export settings will only be used once. They will not be saved after you initiate the export.
Navigating the Export Settings Window
- Email Recipients - You may add as many email recipients as you wish to each export. Only Priority Engine users can be added to exports.
- Attribution Code - An attribution code ensures you are able to track exported data once it is pulled out of Priority Engine. In most cases, we recommend using an attribution format that references TechTarget or Priority Engine and the specific type of list being exported. For example:
- Rank Exports by: Choose between exporting by Top Accounts or Top Prospects.
- Ranking exports by Top Prospects lets you tell Priority Engine to export in priority order starting with the most active prospect across all accounts. This is an ideal way to ensure you are exporting only the most active prospects in your market.
- Ranking exports by Top Accounts lets you tell Priority Engine to export accounts in priority order, starting with all of the prospects at the most active account, regardless of the prospect's activity level and then continuing down your list of most active accounts. This is an effective method for ABM and targeted account lists.
- Automated Weekly Export Toggle - This setting is defaulted to yes to ensure your weekly export settings are executed once saved. If you would like to update your weekly export settings, but do not want to export them automatically each week, deactivate this toggle.
- Export Prospect Type - Choose which prospect types will be exported. You can learn more about Priority Engine prospect types here.
- Note that once exported, the Prospect Type Export Field for Additional Prospects will be labeled as Additional Contacts in your export.
- Only export prospects that match the Research Location filter - Activate this toggle if you are only interested in exporting prospects from specific geographic areas. This setting is most often used for event recruitment and regional marketing campaigns.
- Include Previously Exported Prospects - Activate this toggle if you would like to override deduping for this particular list. This setting is often used to ensure that new campaigns, event lists, and sales reps are receiving as many contacts as possible.
- Maximum Prospects to Export - Limit the number of total prospects exported from a particular Account List.
- Maximum Prospects to Export per Account - Limit the total number of prospects that can be exported from any individual account on an Account List. These prospects will be ranked by activity therefore if you were to export 5 prospects per account they would be the 5 most active prospects at that account.
- Limit Export by Territory - Activate this feature if you would like to filter Account Lists that are being exported directly to sales reps by each reps' Priority Engine sales territory.
- Email Results to Territory Owners - Activate the toggle to send the export list to the sales rep that owns the specific territory.
When you have finished adjusting your setting, click Save Export Settings if you are saving a weekly export, or Export Prospects Now if you are setting up an on-demand export.
Exporting Top Accounts vs. Top Prospects
Ranking by account activity combines recent and relevant activity in the market, as well as engagements with the customer, and activity against configured entry points, etc. on the account level and exports it that way. Ranking by prospect activity is based on the individual prospect's recent and relevant activity in the market, as well as engagement with the customer, activity against configured entry points, and job function fit based on configured preferences, etc.
Please Note: that your top-ranking prospect may not be from your top-ranking account and you may not get all active contacts from an account when exporting in this manner.
If you are limiting the number of contacts that are exported through the 'Maximum Prospects to Export' option, we recommend exporting by Top Prospects to receive the most active contacts exported first and in priority order.

Exportable Data Fields
Priority Engine exports prospect and account data across 49 unique fields. Before setting up automated exporting or direct integration with marketing automation systems, it's important to understand the data fields that will be exported from Priority Engine and how to map them to your internal standards. Below you will find the complete list of Priority Engine's exportable data fields, including field definitions and some sample data.
- Account Address 1 - If available, this is the street address of the headquarters. (Example: 82 Devonshire Street)
- Account Address 2 - If available, this is the unit number of the headquarters. (Example: Unit 111)
- Account City - If available, this is the City where the headquarters is located. (Example: Boston)
- Account Country - This is the country of the headquarters. (Example: US)
- Account Entry Point (1-10) - Up to 10 Account Entry points can be exported. Entry Points are exported by their rank (1-10). Each Entry Point will be exported in it's own row. If there are not enough Entry Points to populate the number of Entry Points selected by your export settings, they will be backfilled with any available Additional Research Areas.
- Account Name - Lists the name of the company. (Example: Fidelity)
- Account Postal Code - If available, this is the postal code where the headquarters is located. (Example: 02109)
- Account Rank - Numerical ranking for the account based on overall activity within the core technology topic. All ranks are relative to the specific Account Lists and filters.
- Account Revenue - Provides the revenue of an account in non-comma seperated values (i.e. 1000000)
- Account State - If available, this is the State where the headquarters is located. (Example: Massachusetts)
- Account's Last Touch - Lists when the account last downloaded your sponsored content. Only available if you are syndicating content on the TechTarget network.
- Activity with You - The name(s) of the sponsored content downloaded by the account. Only available if you are syndicating content on the TechTarget network. (Example: 2017 Threat Report)
- Attribution Code - Lists the Prospect Export Code that was manually inputted when setting up a specific Account List. (Example: TechTarget_Nurture)
- Clicked your banner - Whether or not an account has clicked on your banner ad (Yes/No)
- Contact City - Prospect's City location. (Example: Boston)
- Contact Country - Prospect's Country. (Example: US)
- Contact Phone - Prospect's phone number. (Example: (617) 563-6151)
- Contact Postal Code - Prospect's ZIP code. (Example: 02109-3605)
- Contact State - Prospect's State location. (Example: Massachusetts)
- Cross-Vendor Signal - Will be True if the account is looking at multiple options from different vendors, suggesting cross-vendor interest.
- Domain Name - This is the domain for the company. It is recommended that you use this field to match the data to your existing accounts. (Example: fmr.com)
- Email - Prospect's email address. (Example: firstname.lastname@example.org)
- Employees - The company size range for a specific account. (Example: 100,000+)
- Engaged with your content - Lists if the account has contacts that have downloaded your sponsored content and how many times they have engaged with it. Only available if you are syndicating content on the TechTarget network.
- First Name - First name of prospect. (Example: Bob)
- ICP Match - Notes if a prospect matches the Ideal Customer Profile set for an account list. (Yes/No)
- Industry - The industry associated with the company. (Example: Financial Services)
- Job Function - Functional role or title of a prospect. (Example: VP - Operations)
- Last Name - Last name of prospect. (Example: Wilson)
- Late Stage Signal - Will be True if the account has been looking at content typically associated with final decision making, exhibiting late-stage interest.
- LinkedIn Profile URL - A direct link to the prospect's LinkedIn profile.
- Most recent lead drop - The most recent time frame during which a lead was created (week/month/quarter)
- New Activity This Week - Whether or not activity was detected at an account in the current week. This is based on ANY account activity for the week, not contact specific (yes/no).
- New Prospect Activity This Week - Indicates whether or not research activity has been detected at the prospect level in the past week (Yes/No)
- Priority Engine Account URL - Direct link to the account page in Priority Engine.
- Prospect Entry Point (1-10) - Up to 10 Prospect Entry points can be exported. Entry Points are exported by their rank (1-10). Each Entry Point will be exported in it's own row. If there are not enough Entry Points to populate the number of Entry Points selected by your export settings, they will be backfilled with any available Additional Research Areas.
- Prospect Type - Lists the prospect type. (Example: Active Prospect, TechTarget Lead)
- Prospect URL - Provides the direct URL to a Priority Engine prospect
- Recipient - Email address of person receiving the export.
- Segment Name - Identifies the specific Priority Engine technology segment the data pertains to. (Example: Advanced Analytics)
- Stakeholder Signal - Will be True if one or more contacts have been flagged as a hyper-active researcher, indicating a key stakeholder.
- Star Ranking - A numerical representation of an account's star ranking. Possible values are 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
- Sustained Signal - Will be True if the account has shown high activity every week during the month, demonstrating continued interest.
- TechTarget Company ID - This is an internal TechTarget unique identifier for the company.
- TechTarget Source - Static value of “TechTarget Priority Engine” is passed to ensure TechTarget attribution is tagged to prospect.
- Territory - The email address of the user whose territory each prospect in the export belongs to. "Unrestricted" if no territory has been set
- Timeframe of banner click - The corresponding time period during which an account clicked on your banner ad (week/month/Quarter)
- Timeframe of website visit - The corresponding time period during which an account visited your website (week/month/Quarter)
- Title - Prospect's job title. (Example: Senior Manager, Systems Engineering)
- Topic Interests (1-40) - Highlights the specific topics the account is researching. Each topic is ranked in descending order from the most researched to the least researched to a maximum of 40. There will always be 40 Topic Interest columns listed even if some are blank. (Example: Big data analytics, Real-time analytics, Predictive analytics...)
- Vendor Interests (1-20) - Highlights the specific vendors the account has downloaded content from on the TechTarget network. Each vendor is ranked in descending order from the most content downloaded to the least content downloaded to a maximum of 20. There will always be 20 vendor columns listed even if some are blank. (Example: IBM, Google Cloud, SAS...)
- Visited your website - Whether or not an account has visited your website (Yes/No)
- Widespread Signal - Will be True if the account has an unusually high number of active researchers, signifying widespread interest.
Export Cap FAQ
Your export cap represents the maximum number of prospects you can export from Priority Engine based on your current subscription. While your TechTarget Customer Success Manager will work with you to configure and plan your export strategy, this page will help address the most common customer questions.
Which prospect types count toward my export cap?
Only Active Prospects count toward the export cap. TechTarget Leads and Additional Prospects do not count toward the export cap.
Do duplicates count toward the export cap?
Duplicates from the current program and any programs in the past year do not count towards your export cap. A contact (defined by email address) will only count once in a 12-month period.
What happens if a contact changes prospect type and I export them again?
Duplication rules are set based on email addresses, not prospect types. Therefore, if an individual contact changes from one prospect type to another after you've exported them, they will not count against your cap the second time they are exported.
How can I keep track of my export activity?
Your account and prospect export activity can be viewed by administrators in the ROI Dashboard. The ROI Dashboard includes an Export Trends section, where you can find the total number of prospects exported to date, the average number of exports per week, and an estimation of what your total export count will be based on your current pace. Export trends are also expressed as a graph of your past weekly exports.
Please Note: Your initial export will likely include more prospects than it will in the exports that follow. Therefore, your first export should not be used to predict your pace in relation to the export cap. Over time, your weekly exports will average out and closely align with your export cap.
Should I make adjustments to my export strategy based on my cap pace?
While it can be tempting to adjust exporting based on projections, we recommend that you follow the export program strategically designed for your team. Any major changes to export strategy are always best discussed with your Customer Success Manager beforehand. If you do decide to make changes, you can do so on the Manage Exports page.
Can we increase our export cap?
Yes. Additional exports can be purchased at any time throughout your subscription. Please contact your Customer Success Manager to learn more.
